Bhutan's transition to democracy required a Parliament with state of the art conference facilities. The National Assembly of Bhutan has chosen DIS conference equipment for their new parliament through the Indian DIS distributor Elgin Electronics.
The system, based on the DCS 6000 conference system is integrated with a multi-camera system for live video capture, relay and recording. Two large rear projection screens is integrated the system for displaying conference information. Each member of the house has a flush mount conference unit with gooseneck microphone, loudspeaker, 31 channel language selector with back lit display, parliamentary voting with chip card for member identification. The coloured voting buttons have been ergonomically designed with LED to indicate the option selected.
The pan tilt zoom cameras have been located strategically around the assembly hall and have been integrated with the conference system to automatically focus on the parliament member speaking. These cameras shall additionally provide output to matrix switcher for recording, relay to other rooms as well as display on large screens. The screens also display conference related information such as lists of members speaking and on request, voting results etc. In addition to the image of the member speaking the screens will display his constituency, party affiliation and other such details.
His Majesty and his VIP guests will be provided with personal LCD panels.
The control room is equipped with a touch panel control system for the complete solution including the Digital Conference system, the Simultaneous Interpretation system, the Electronic Voting system, Chip card reader and identification system, CCTV system and display and projection system.
