WORLD BANK HOLDS A CONFERENCE IN DUBAI
Informationsteknik Scandinavis A/S ( DK) and Bond Communications, UAE has been chosen to supply the AV equipment |
|
|
This year the World Bank Meetings were held in Dubai - and hailed as the world’s largest, with around 27,000 guests. The conference took place from 19-24 September 2003 in the newly built “Dubai International Conference Centre”, which is located in the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Informationsteknik has previously supplied equipment for the conference: In 1992 in Thailand and in 1970 in Copenhagen. |
|
The digital microphones and the interpretation systems from the DCS 6000 system were performing perfectly. Despite of the hectic working conditions in Dubai with repeatedly set-up and dismantling, the system was very stable and the sound perfect. |

The conference centre is unique in many ways:
- The centre was built in only 2 ½ years
- The plenary conference hall can accommodate 6000 people.
- The foyer is 400 metres wide
- 75 smaller conference rooms
- 2 hotels with over 600 rooms
- Exhibition area of approx. 37,000 m2
- Office facilities occupying an area of approx. 30,000 m2.
In practice we are organising a Dubai booking centre with a project team of 6 people, who take care of all the logistics. Together with a corresponding team from the World Bank they have overall responsibility for the 50 AV engineers and 40 assistants, as well as for the equipment – including the equipment we have permanently installed in the centre. Over 240 individual meetings will be held during the period. |

|
In most of the rooms the digital DIS 6000 interpreting system - with a capacity of up to 32 languages, were used. For the conference rooms we are also supplying complete sound systems, video/data projectors, graphic mixers, remote controlled video cameras, teleprompter systems and many hundreds of metres of cable.
The conference closed in the plenary conference hall with a ceremony where interpreting facilities, among other things, were provided for 6000 people. The entire closing ceremony – including the interpreting, sound, lighting, video, large display and computer equipment, as well as the graphic mixer, teleprompter, communication and camera team for recording, were succesfully controlled by 12 engineers from Informationsteknik.
